Wilhelmina Park

The Wilhelminapark is one of the oldest parks in Tilburg. The city park in English landscape style was opened in 1898, in honour of Queen Wilhelmina's accession to the throne. It is built on a centuries-old Kempen triangle of five hectares and is located at a crossroads of connecting roads, at the time on the northern edge of the city buildings, but now quite central. It is bordered by monumental buildings from the heyday of the Tilburg textile industry, from the second half of the 19th century until the Second World War. In the design, Leonard Springer's renowned dendrological knowledge can be seen in the many species and varieties of trees. The Wilhelminapark was renovated in 1996 and forms the southernmost part of the national protected area of Wilhelminapark/Goirkestraat.
