In the twentieth century, many people from home and abroad flocked to Roermond to find contemplation in this special church, among other things with organized pilgrimages. The chapel is still very busy during the pilgrimage season, from the first weekend in May to mid-September. What makes this Pilgrimage Church so special? The Chapel in 't Zand owes its attraction to the veneration of Mary, which dates back hundreds of years, to 1418, when a Polish shepherd found a small statue of Mary here.
For centuries, people have come from far and wide to the Roermond Chapel in 't Zand to pray to Our Lady!
