In the footsteps of the Counts of Veldenz.
Count Georg Johannes is the most famous descendant of the Counts of Veldenz, also because he married a daughter of King Gustav I of Sweden in 1563. The ancestral history of the Counts of Veldenz is therefore repeatedly thematized in this 14 km long escapade. The former seat of the count, Veldenz Castle with its ruins, can be admired from many viewpoints along the way. A former refuge of the Celts bears witness to a roughly 90-meter long stone wall that also impresses on the street.
The starting and ending point of the tour is the romantic little town of Veldenz. The Veldenz creek winds along the hiking path on the slopes. The creek is crossed twice. Then you have to prepare for the ascent again!
