Asp és un municipi del País Valencià que es troba a la comarca del Vinalopó Mitjà, a 163 km. de València, 28 km d'Alacant i 17 km. d'Elda. La parla pròpia és castellana però actualment un 14% de població és bilingüe, ja que hi ha habitants provinents de municipis valencianoparlants colindants com Novelda o Fondó de les Neus; en 2017 es comptaren 20.425 veïns. El gentilici oficial és aspense, però al poble la gent s'autodenomina asperos. El municipi està travessat pel Vinalopó, el Tarafa i la rambla de Les Monges. Les principals altures són els cims de Matamoros , Ofra i Ors .
