Schloss Elmau ligger over landsbyen Klais, kommune Krün i Kreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen på 1008 meters højde ved foden af Wettersteingebirget.
Det blev bygget af Carl Sattler og bygherren Johannes Müller i formerne af reformarkitektur under første verdenskrig fra 1914 til 1916 med udbygget valmtag, tårn og forhaller.
I 2005 blev slottet ødelagt af en brand og blev derefter delvist revet ned. Müllers barnebarn Dietmar Müller-Elmau som bygherre og Sattlers barnebarn Christoph Sattler som arkitekt byggede slottet op igen fra 2006 til 2007 som et femstjernet luksushotel.
