Das Flugzeug, das du am Eingang des Flughafens von Overboelare stehen siehst, ist ein C-54 Skymaster, einst eines der allerersten, die zwischen Amerika und Europa fliegen konnten. 1967 stand das Flugzeug auf einem Parkplatz eines Café-Restaurants in Geraardsbergen und die Kunden konnten ihren Aperitif im Inneren der Bar dieses Flugzeugs genießen. Als es Anfang der 70er Jahre zum Flughafen von Overboelare kam, diente es noch als Cafeteria und Besprechungsraum für den heutigen Segelflugclub Phoenix.
