The nickname for the inhabitants of Pollare is "Troteters". At the end of September 1830, Belgium separated from the United Kingdom of the Netherlands: "the Brabant revolution". In Pollare it was a fair. Despite the war, the Pollarenaars wanted to honor this age-old custom. The beer was cool in the cellars, the smell of fresh bread beat from all the bakehouses and the much sought-after apple trot (applesauce) was ready. Golden yellow. Suddenly there were whispers, then shouts and soon shouts that the Dutch army was approaching to set everything on fire and sword. Pollare's sexton was not very courageous, but he was fond of tasty pride. He took seventeen teils of applesauce and clambered into the church tower. He carefully locked the interior door with three locks. When the danger had passed, the sexton was found, sleeping in the tower, in the midst of the apple trot... "Pollaarse trot" is still a well-known Pollaar specialty to this day.
