The Gaverbos is a forest - a nature reserve in the Flemish Ardennes in South-East Flanders. The forest is located on the Gaverbosdreef in the municipality of Zwalm. The nature reserve is situated along the Zwalm in the Zwalm valley. The Gaverbos is a mixed ash-oak forest with spring bloomers such as wild hyacinth, lesser periwinkle, slender primrose, and Spanish oak. At the bottom of the slope, the ash-oak forest transitions into a wetter ash-alder forest with moisture-loving plants like ground-ivy, creeping jenny, common Solomon's seal, cuckoo flower, and one-berry. The shrub layer consists of coppice from hazel. In the Gaverbos, among other species, live: chiffchaff, green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, wren, robin, nightingale.
