Erpel is a municipality in the district of Neuwied in northern Rhineland-Palatinate, on the right bank of the Middle Rhine. It belongs to the association municipality of Unkel.
The town center is located in the Lower Middle Rhine Valley opposite Remagen on the edge of the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park. In the eastern part of the municipality, the Erpeler Kirchspielwald extends up to the Rhine Westerwald volcanic ridge. There, south of the peak of the Asberg, which is 430 m above NHN, the highest point in the municipality is reached. The outer east of the Erpel locality, whose boundary is marked there by the Erpeler Bach, can already be attributed to the Asbach high plateau.
