Vaalserquartier is a part of the Aachen district of Laurensberg and is located right on the border with Vaals in the Netherlands. Vaalserquartier can be reached via the B 1 or the Maastrichterlaan N 278.
The name Vaalserquartier dates back to the early 14th century and reflects the old division of the former Aachen Empire, according to which this area was one of the seven so-called Quartiere outside the city walls of Aachen. A visible sign from that time is the still-existing, but fundamentally rebuilt watchtower Gut Beeck on the Dreiländerweg, as well as the Adlerstein at the former border crossing Kleine Wache. Additionally, remnants of both the inner and outer Aachen land trench can still be found southwest of Vaalserquartier.
