The starting and ending point of the route is the Bartholomäuskirche in Rödinghausen. There are ample parking facilities in Rödinghausen. If arriving by train, the Neue Mühle station east of the town center is a suitable starting point. From the town center of Rödinghausen, the route initially leads uphill towards the Wiehengebirge and runs parallel to the edge of the forest for a stretch. Here, there is already a beautiful view over the Ravensberger Hügelland. After a short while, the route turns south and now leads downhill to the Kilverbach. The NSG Kilverbachtal, with its 107 hectares, is the largest in the municipality and provides a habitat for the kingfisher, among others. The route continues hilly past the manor house Haus Kilver to the small farming village of Westkilver with the remarkable Michaelkirche. Here, the course turns east and passes by half-timbered cottages into the Vossholz, a large contiguous forest rarely found in the intensively farmed Herford district.
To the east of the wooded area lies the listed Gut Böckel, a former manor. From here, the circular route heads back north through Bieren and Dono, where an old school and the community bell can be visited. The route now leads straight towards the Wiehengebirge and the terrain steadily rises until reaching the edge of the forest. As a reward for the efforts, a particularly beautiful view of the landscape extends from here. The route continues past the Neue Mühle station to Stukenhöfen, where a restored and listed community bell is located. Further along the way, there are some beautiful half-timbered farms before reaching the town center of Rödinghausen again.
This scenic circular route mostly follows asphalted side streets or road-side cycle paths, so there are hardly any traffic disturbances. However, the route is characterized by numerous inclines, making the Rad KulTour Rödinghausen only partially suitable for families with young children. A sporty attitude is definitely recommended for this route. Overall, this route offers an attractive environment and good infrastructure. There are ample opportunities for dining and resting along the way.
