A footpath has been created around the basin de la Préfecture on the Quai du Comte-Henri. The path allows you to walk or cycle around the basin of the prefecture.
All this in the context of the reopening of the Haute Seine Canal. The Haute-Seine Canal is an artificial French waterway that runs through the departments of Aube and Marne between the confluence of the Aube and Seine rivers, at Romilly-sur-Seine, and Troyes.
The canal was planned in the 18th century, but was built during the Empire. It was opened in 1846. It has been completely closed to navigation since 1968. The canal itself runs through the city of Troyes as far as Marcilly-sur-Seine; the section known as the "canal without water" , located between Bar-sur-Seine and Troyes, has never been opened.
In order to make the canal more attractive to tourists, the Aube General Council has been making improvements since 2000. It has been decided to keep open the possibility of reopening the canal to navigation between Marcilly-sur-Seine and Barberey-Saint-Sulpice, and to develop footpaths and greenways along the canal .
