La légende raconte que l’empereur Charlemagne (mort en 814) fut terrassé par la soif lors d’une partie de chasse. En faisant voler un pigeon, il a trouvé une source. Par gratitude envers Dieu, il fit construire une église et un monastère à proximité. C’est là que se trouve aujourd’hui Feuchtwangen. Au centre, la place du marché et l’église gothique du monastère se distinguent.
