Levern is a village and a former municipality in the district of Minden-Lübbecke, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has about 2000 inhabitants. Since 1984, the village has been a recognized resort. This status is secured until 2023.
Levern was first mentioned in a document between 969 and 996. In 1227, Konrad I von Rüdenberg, Bishop of Minden from 1209 to 1236, founded a Cistercian monastery in Levern. The monastery no longer existed in 1543; during the Reformation, the monastery was converted into a secular, noble women's convent.
