Årsagen til, at naturen formede denne bugt som bøffen på en okse (det betyder Voidokilia), har sin oprindelse i Mount Kyllini. Gud Hermes blev født i en hule på Mount Kyllini. Efter han blev født, forlod han hulen og stjal sin halvbrors Apollo kvæg. Apollo bad sin far Zeus om hjælp, fordi han ikke kunne finde sit kvæg. Zeus sagde til sin søn Hermes, at han skulle give kvæget tilbage til Apollo. Apollo var nu mere forsigtig med at passe på dette kvæg. Han skjulte dem i Nestors hule, ved siden af denne smukke bugt Voidokilia. Og naturen blev inspireret af bøffen på tyre, så den skabte bugten tilsvarende: Voidokilia.
