Ochsenfurt ist eine Stadt im unterfränkischen Landkreis Würzburg und liegt im südlichen Maindreieck. Die historische Altstadt verfügt über eine weitgehend erhaltene mittelalterliche Befestigungsanlage mit zahlreichen Türmen und Stadttoren. Ochsenfurt gehörte früher dem Domkapitel in Würzburg.
Es liegt mit seiner Altstadt am linken Ufer des Mains westlich an der Südspitze des Maindreiecks, also südöstlich von Würzburg und südwestlich von Kitzingen. Dabei gibt die Stadt auch dem Würzburg-Ochsenfurter Maintal den Namen. Der bedeutendste der kleinen Mainzuflüsse in seiner Gemarkung ist der einen Kilometer mainabwärts der Altstadt von links mündende Thierbach. Weitere Bäche haben in die Hänge des Maintals Klingen eingeschnitten. Die Stadt ist von vielen Weinbergen umgeben und wirtschaftliches Zentrum der fruchtbaren Agrarregion Ochsenfurter Gau.
