Halifax ist eine knapp 90.000 Einwohner zählende Mittelstadt in der englischen Grafschaft West Yorkshire und Verwaltungssitz des Metropolitan Borough Calderdale.
Halifax befindet sich im Südosten des Moorgebietes South Pennines nahe den Städten Bradford, Huddersfield und Rochdale. Liverpool und Hull sind ca. 100 km, und London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin sowie Cardiff liegen rund 300 km entfernt. Die Stadt wird vom Fluss Calder durchflossen.
