Oeding (Odink) is a village in the municipality of Südlohn, in Münsterland, Germany, in the district of Borken in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Oeding is located a few kilometers southeast of Winterswijk, near the Dutch-German border. The village has about 3,800 inhabitants. The first mention of a farm named Oeding dates back to 1170. In 1353, a certain Johann Bermentfelde sold this farm and castle to Bishop Ludwig II of Münster. After the castle was destroyed in 1372 by the then Bishop of Münster, it was immediately rebuilt. The vaults of the castle and the tower, which dates from the second half of the 15th century, have been preserved. The Church of St. James in Oeding is a neo-Romanesque church, which was built in 1911. Art Nouveau elements in the glass of the church are striking.
