In the village of Courtil in the Ardennes, the founder of the popular La Chouffe beer, Pierre Gobron, has built a microbrewery with an attached restaurant. Here he brews his own beer. Additionally, this brewery is also used for new test brews from the Duvel Moortgat brewery.
The then Brewery Lupulus saw the light of day in 2004. Originally, the brewery only served to supply the adjacent bistro with the necessary beer. In 2007, Lupulus Blond officially hit the market, both on draft and in the characteristic champagne bottles. The brewery was established within the enclosure of a stunning 19th-century Ardennes farmhouse, idyllically located in greenery and surrounded by a stream of pure and fresh water.
The name of the beer comes from the Latin name for hops: Humulus lupulus, which literally translates to "little humble wolf".
