The series Aspe has a strong connection with this café. “One day I received a call from the team asking if they could take a look around.” Not long after, ‘Inspector Van In’ was at the door every Tuesday to film. “The television series was initially completely based on the books by Pieter Aspe,” says Bruno. “In the books, Inspector Van In liked to drink his Duveltje at café Vlissinghe.” Writer Pieter Aspe was a regular guest at the café, which is hidden in the Sint-Annakwartier. The café experienced enormous success thanks to the television series. “Later on, they moved away from the books as a guideline for the television series,” explains Bruno. “And we even appear in comic books like Suske and Wiske or Kiekeboe.”
