La serie Aspe ha un forte legame con questo caffè. “Un giorno ricevetti una telefonata dal team per chiedere se potevano dare un'occhiata.” Poco dopo, ‘l'ispettore Van In’ si presentava ogni martedì alla porta per girare. “All'inizio, la serie televisiva era completamente basata sui libri di Pieter Aspe”, racconta Bruno. “Nei libri, l'ispettore Van In amava bere il suo Duveltje nel caffè Vlissinghe.” Lo scrittore Pieter Aspe è stato per anni un habitué di questo caffè nascosto nel quartiere di Sint-Anna. Grazie alla serie televisiva, il caffè conobbe un enorme successo. “In seguito, si sono allontanati dai libri come guida nella serie televisiva”, racconta Bruno. “E ci siamo anche nei fumetti di Suske e Wiske o Kiekeboe.”
