Three streams in the polder of Groß-Kruibeke

Departure at the Boer and the Boerin, Lange Gaanweg 28 in Basel at the "Vaart" (Schlossweiher) from Schloss Wissekerke. Over the shortening dike to the ring dike at the arcade and follow it to the right until the stairs on the left down to the Beverpad, through the revolving door past the Coninckshuisje and the Karperhuisje, further on. After the Beverpad, we ascend the Scheldedijk and follow it to the left until the first road on the left: the Sandgaanweg. Follow this straight ahead until the first linden (the Blue Linden) straight ahead to the next linden (Fassaat Linden also called Liefkeslinde) and further to Kallebeeksveer, continue along the Scheldedijk to the overflow dike on the left until the Heerbeeksluis. This sluice gate gives the Old Barbierbeek access to the Schelde. After the lock, we descend and take the (newly) restored Tilleke Tangdijk at the left bank right next to the (old) Barbierbeek towards the Tilleke Tang bench and further to the right-hand Kijkwand. Leave the hiking trail at the triangle gate, and 100 m further on the left take the Donkpad along the play forest until you reach the Lange Gaanweg (cobble-stone path + 2 concrete strips), which we follow to the right, cross the ring dike, and continue straight to the starting point.

These three brooks were created in 1715 after a severe dike breach of 150 m in length at the site of the current sluice at the Rupelmondse Kreek and the Schelde. It took three years to close the dike hole. This was a disaster for many users of this land, who were cut off from the proceeds they desperately needed during times of great poverty in Flanders.
Now we find there jewels of valuable quiet nature both along the Beverpad at the Rupelmondse Kreek and along the dike of Tilleke Tang along the Kruibeekse Kreek and the old Barbierbeek bed. Round hike 11 km
