Thinking in boxes is not for us. And not for our animals either.
The pig is a free-range animal that prefers to root in the earth all day long. Our mother animals live all year round in a sow enclosure where they can splash around in the mud and root ('scratch') in fresh soil to their heart's content. A simple hut with fresh straw offers them some protection from the sun or cold, but usually you will see Manon and the other sows enjoying life outside a stable, where lovely shade and fodder groves have been planted. The other pigs also benefit from the freedom to do what their instincts dictate in the open air.
