Rocher du Vieux-Château & Modave

Departure at the Tourist Office of Pont de Bonne. We first climb to the Rocher du Vieux-Château. This rocky plateau above the Hoyoux had been inhabited since Neolithic times. On the site we can still see the Iron Age defensive walls. Also in Carolingian times, the plateau was inhabited and there was a wall and a gate around the settlement. Now we descend and follow the track to Huy to cross the Hoyoux after about 300 m. We take the path parallel to the river (the RAVeL is a few meters higher) and follow it for 900 m. Then we cross the water again, turn right and immediately left again. Here we enter the St. Peter's Valley. It is a small stream in a fairytale setting. Once at the top, we turn right and cross the N636. A little further, we leave the hiking route marked with a blue rectangle. We take the long straight path through the ash forest, towards Linchet. Here we connect to the promenade indicated by red, white and red vertical bars. We pass in front of the memorial stone of the church of Linchet and now pass by the rue des Trois Maison towards Modave. We want, can -agree on the RAVeL- choose to visit the castle of Modave. Otherwise, you head to church. We go down along Rue du Village and (be careful here!) turn into Rue Ravine. We pass the houses on the right and arrive at the RAVeL, directly behind the tunnel. We follow the old railway line 126 to Pont de Bonne.
