Eng-Alm mit Schaukäserei

The sight of 200 cows grazing amidst the 2,000 sycamore trees at the “Großer Ahornboden" with the mighty mountain backdrop of the Karwendel Mountains is a vision to behold. It is not unusual to find hobby painters setting their easels up here. By the way, Eng-Alm is also Tirol’s largest alpine dairy farm. Interested visitors can watch milk being processed in the dairy, while others enjoy sitting on the terrace of the restaurant while sampling the products and savouring the unforgettable view.

Every morning until around 10am there is the chance to watch production of some of the 1,600 wheels of cheese made here each year. The cheese made at this hut has won many prizes over the years and can be bought on site.
It is around a 30-minutes walk from the large car park at the Alpengasthof Eng to Almdorf and the Eng-Alm and Rasthütte Eng-Alm restaurant.
