Unique in the interior are the beautiful wooden vault, the famous Müller organ, the copper choir screen, the many stained glass windows, and the 400 gravestones on the floor, including those of Frans Hals and Willem Bilderdijk. The Grote or St. Bavo Church is open for visitors during the week and on Saturday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Guided tours are also available.
The Grote or St. Bavo Church is not only a beautiful, historic building but also continues to be a place of gathering for a church community. On Sundays, the Sunday service of the Center congregation of the Protestant Community of Haarlem takes place there. The congregation aims to tell the story of God's love in connection with tradition, while also keeping an open eye on the world today.
In the Grote or St. Bavo Church, services are held from mid-May to mid-October at 10 AM unless otherwise indicated. During the winter months, the congregation gathers in the Nieuwe Kerk.
