The Museum of Traditional Costume has been housed since 2004 in the former building of the Bank of Portugal , right in the historic centre. Here, visitors can discover the ethnographic wealth of traditional costumes in Viana do Castelo.
The museum's collection also includes utensils used in the production of the garments . In addition, there are the permanent exhibitions "Wool and linen in the costumes of the Alto Minho region", "Typical costumes of Viana" and "Goldsmith's art".
The Museu do Traje also organises numerous temporary exhibitions on the theme of traditional costumes and ethnography of Viana do Castelo.
