St. Johann im Pongau Håns, Kurzform: St. Johann/Pg.) ist die Hauptstadt und mit 11.331 Einwohnern zugleich einwohnerstärkste Gemeinde des Bezirkes St. Johann im Pongau im Bundesland Salzburg.St. Johann im Pongau liegt im Salzachpongau gut 50 Kilometer südlich von Salzburg. Die Stadt befindet sich im Salzachtal im südlichen Bischofshofen-St.-Johanner Becken kurz nach dem großen Knie der Salzach, taleinwärts südlich von Bischofshofen, zwischen den Salzburger Schieferalpen im Nordteil , den Radstädter Tauern im Südosten und den Ausläufern der Ankogelgruppe im Südwesten. Das Gemeindegebiet umfasst die Salzachtalungen auf um die 550 m ü. A., das Hochgründeck rechts, die Abhänge des Palfnerkogels links, sowie die unteren Täler der Wagrainer Ache und der Großarler Ache , zweier rechter Nebenbäche der Salzach, die östlichsten der Tauerntäler.
