Die Städteregion Aachen ist ein Kommunalverband besonderer Art im Südwesten Nordrhein-Westfalens und liegt am Dreiländereck mit den Niederlanden und Belgien. Verwaltungssitz ist Aachen.
Die Städteregion ist seit dem 21. Oktober 2009 Rechtsnachfolger des Kreises Aachen, der aufgelöst wurde und dessen neun Gemeinden mit der kreisfreien Stadt Aachen die neue Städteregion bilden. Mit der Bildung der Städteregion Aachen wird zum ersten Mal ein Regionsmodell in Nordrhein-Westfalen erprobt. In Niedersachsen existierte bereits zuvor die Region Hannover sowie im Saarland der Regionalverband Saarbrücken.
