Aix-les-Bains ist eine französische Gemeinde und ein Thermalbad mit 30.463 Einwohnern im Département Savoie in der Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Die Stadt liegt am östlichen Ufer des Lac du Bourget und besitzt dengrößten Süßwasser-Jachthafen Frankreichs.Als Ferienhochburg fürstlicher Familien und wohlhabender Leute war Aix-les-Bains eine bedeutende Stadt der Belle Époque von internationalem Ruf. Die heißen Schwefelquellen mit einer Temperatur von circa 43–45 °C werden jährlich von mehreren Tausend Kurgästen besucht. Das Wasser wird sowohl für Trinkkuren als auch für Hydrotherapie verwendet. Selbst wenn sie heute nach wie vor als „Wasserstadt“ gilt, sind die Thermaleinrichtungen nicht mehr das Hauptgewerbe von Aix. Den Verlust an Kurgästen versucht die Stadt dank ihrer günstigen Lage durch die Entwicklung von Tourismus auszugleichen.
