Wasser ist an der Algarve ein knappes Gut, so dass im Laufe der Zeit verschiedene Wege gefunden wurden, um Regenwasser zu sammeln. In dieser Region wurden viele kleine Wassereinzugsgebiete hergestellt oder es sind kleine Brunnen vorhanden. Eine der weniger verbreiteten Empfangsmethoden ist diese Höhle, von der nur wenige in der Gegend vorhanden sind
