Der Nationalpark Peneda-Gerês , auch einfach als Gerês bekannt, ist der einzige Nationalpark Portugals und liegt in der Region Norte im Nordwesten des Landes. Daneben gibt es noch viele Naturparks, geschützte Landschaften und Reservate im ganzen Land.
Unter nationaler und internationaler Anteilnahme wurde der Park am 8. Mai 1971 gegründet, um Boden, Wasser, Flora, Fauna und Landschaft zu schützen und zu erhalten. Bildung und Tourismus sind ebenfalls Ziele des Parks. Seit 2009 gehört der Nationalpark zu einem Biosphärenreservat der UNESCO.
