Searching routes using themes and characteristics

Ita Looking for wine routes or a cycling tour along castles or abbeys?  Or rather an educational route along cultural heritage or archeology? Or just a walk through the forest? This new functionality might help you out!

To be able to look for a specific route, the route search  has been extendend with "characteristic" en "theme". 

Characteristic

"Characteristic" can be read as "Route suitable for...".

Select a characteristic in case
  • you are looking for a walk or hike suitable for children, or for Nordic Walking, or for wheelchairs,...
  • you are looking for a bicycle tour suitable for mountainbikes, ....
Select a characteristic from the drop down menu (see figure to the right) .
  • Make a selection of the characteristic you are looking for
  • You can also select other criteria  (eg. score)
  • Click on "Search"
You get a list of routes (below) and the start of the routes marked on the map.

Zoom in, out or pan the map. The criteria you selected stay valid. So reset if you want to see the default criteria.

Routes can also be looked for using themes. A few examples of those themes are wine, crime and justice, history, geology, beer, world heritage, art, science,...

Select a theme from the drop down menu (see figure to the right) .
  • Make a selection of the theme you are looking for
  • You can also select other criteria  (eg. score)
  • Click on "Search"
You get a list of routes (below) and the start of the routes marked on the map.

Define the characteristic or theme of your route

When you are logged in, go to Your space. There you see a list of the routes you created. Next to the route, you see two shackles. Click on the shackles and you will be able to link your route to a theme or a characteristic.

You will also get that option when you just created a route.

You can link you route to
  • a characteristic
  • a theme
  • a group you created or you are member of
  • a public group
