From 1622, Zurich maintained a system of beacons as a warning system, and signals from Schauenberg could be seen at Schnabel , Pfannenstiel, Tämbrig , Uetliberg, Lägern, Zürichberg, Mörsburg, Kyburg, Stammheimerberg and even Hohenklingen.
