Balantrodach was een deel van Temple. Koning David van Schotland schonk in Balantrodach een stuk grond voorr het hoofdkwartier van de Tempeliers in Schotland. Dit stuk grensde aan de gronden van de familie de St.Clairs. Het was in 1127 dat de Grootemeester, Hugues de Payens, David I ontmoette.
