Saumur es una población y comuna francesa, situada en la región de Países del Loira, departamento de Maine y Loira. Es la subprefectura del distrito de su nombre y el chef-lieu de dos cantones: Saumur-Nord y Saumur-Sud. La ciudad es atravesada por el río Loira, sobre el que cruza el puente construido por el ingeniero Louis-Alexandre de Cessart entre 1756-1768, que lleva su nombre. En ella se hallan el Castillo de Saumur y el Museo de Blindados de Saumur. En la literatura, Saumur es la ciudad donde se desarrolla la acción de la novela Eugenia Grandet de Honoré de Balzac, publicada en 1833.
