La cathédrale est une ancienne église épiscopale de style gothique reconstruite après la première guerre mondiale. Elle abrite les tombeaux de l'évêque Jansenius et du comte Robert de Béthune, le « Lion des Flandres ».
On peut également y admirer un bel autel latéral avec un retable et la statue du miracle de Notre-Dame de Thuyne.
La tour culmine à 100m et n'est pas accessible. Le lapidaire abrite les restes de la prévôté Saint-Martin. Quant au monastère, il peut être admiré du côté nord de la cathédrale
La cathédrale peut se visiter librement, sauf pendant les offices.
