Le visiteur non-averti confondra probablement cette source avec le bouillonnement d’eau permanent qui se trouve sur le bas d’un ouvrage en pierre sous lequel passe le Kloosterbeek, ruisseau dont le nom rappelle par ailleurs l’existence de l’abbaye de Dieleghem aujourd’hui disparue. Ce bouillonnement est en réalité artificiel, provoqué par le pompage d’une eau ramenée de l’aval vers l’amont ! La source du Sacré-Cœur se trouve en fait à quelques mètres, derrière une clôture sur le site de l’école du Sacré-Cœur, dans une petite grotte artificielle. Celle-ci fut aménagée au 19ème siècle par le baron Bonaventure lui-même, avant l’occupation du site par les sœurs de la Société du Sacré-Cœur de Jésus. Plus tard, la source fut malheureusement recouverte d’une chape de béton, dans la grotte même, et son eau acheminée par un conduit souterrain jusqu’au ruisseau.
