Elsterwerda est une ville du Brandebourg, en Allemagne, située dans l'arrondissement d'Elbe-Elster. Elle compte 7 856 habitants au 31 décembre 2018. Elle s'étend sur une surface de 41 km2. Elle se situe au Sud du parc naturel du Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft, sa frontière Ouest est commune avec le Schraden, région basse de la vallée de l'Elster Noire.
Ce lieu appartenait, jusqu'en 1815, à la cure saxonne de Amt Hayn, et devint, après la séparation de la Saxe par le congrès de Vienne, partie de l'arrondissement de Liebenwerda, en province prusse de Saxe. Après la réforme administrative du Brandebourg de 1993, elle est rattachée au nouvel arrondissement de l'Elbe-Elster.
