Le quartier de Locmaria est un quartier emblématique de Quimper. Lieu d'émergence de la ville primitive, lieu d'implantation de la plus ancienne abbaye quimpéroise, Locmaria est aujourd'hui connu comme le quartier des faïenciers où est fabriquée la faïence de Quimper. Il est situé en bordure de l'Odet en aval du centre-ville, au fond de la ria ou aber du fleuve, et s'est constitué dès l'Antiquité autour d'un port. Son nom en breton signifie « Le lieu de Marie » au sens de lieu consacré à Marie.
