Le fort Boyard est une fortification située sur un haut fond formé d'un banc de sable à l'origine, appelé la « longe de Boyard », qui se découvre à marée basse et est situé entre l'île d'Aix au nord-est, l'île d'Oléron au sud-ouest, avec l'île Madame au sud-est et l'île de Ré au nord, appartenant à l'archipel charentais. La Longe de Boyard est rattachée au cadastre de la commune de l'Île-d'Aix, dans le département de la Charente-Maritime.
