Cahors /ka'ɔʁ/ è un comune francese di 21.072 abitanti, capoluogo del dipartimento del Lot, nella regione dell'Occitania.
La regione del Quercy è abitata da circa 40 000 anni, come testimoniato da numerosi ritrovamenti archeologici nelle grotte della valle del Célé. La zona fu in seguito occupata dalla popolazione gallica dei Cadurci ed uno dei loro centri abitati fu chiamato dai romani, sopraggiunti al seguito di Cesare, con gli appellativi di Divona Cadurcorum o Civitas Cadurcorum, nome che si contrarrà in Cadurcum e poi nel moderno Cahors.
