L'Eurovision Song Contest 2016 è stata la 61ª edizione dell'annuale concorso canoro, vinta dalla cantante ucraina Jamala con la canzone 1944; si è svolta per la sesta volta in Svezia, dopo che Måns Zelmerlöw ha vinto con il brano Heroes l'edizione precedente, tenutasi a Vienna.
Le date preliminari sono state scelte in un incontro tenutosi a Vienna il 16 marzo 2015 tra l'UER e i capi delegazione che hanno optato per il 10, 12 e 14 maggio 2016, date che sono state confermate l'8 luglio 2015 dalla SVT.
