I Walt Disney Animation Studios sono un elemento chiave della Walt Disney Company, ed il più antico studio di animazione ancora in attività. Lo studio è stato integrato con la Walt Disney Productions a partire dal 1934 – la prima produzione dalla "Walt Disney Animation Studios" è pertanto Biancaneve e i sette nani – fino al 1986 quando la compagnia diventò definitivamente una sussidiaria della Walt Disney Company. Lo studio, diventando più indipendente, assunse quindi il nome di Walt Disney Feature Animation fino al 2007, quando ha poi assunto l'attuale denominazione. Il logo debuttò nel 2007 con il film I Robinson - Una famiglia spaziale.
Il primo lungometraggio Disney fu Biancaneve e i sette nani del 1937, l'ultimo fino a oggi distribuito è Oceania del 2016.
