Vooruit was oorspronkelijk het feest- en kunstencentrum van de Gentse arbeidersbeweging. Tegenwoordig wordt het gebouw uitgebaat door Kunstencentrum Vooruit, dat evenementen zoals debatten, literatuuravonden, concerten, party's en podiumvoorstellingen organiseert. Ook het café van de Vooruit - een begrip in Gent - is zeker een bezoekje waard.
