Beschrijving : Het Musée de la Tapisserie vond onderdak in een oud neoclassicistisch herenhuis. Het stelt 9 werken voor die getuigen van de gouden tijd van de Doornikse wandtapijten (15e en 16e eeuw), met o.m. 'het Beleg van Jeruzalem'. Doornik kende een hoogtepunt op het gebied van wandtapijten in de 15e eeuw, toen meer dan 200 wevers de ateliers bevolkten die exporteerden naar heel Europa. U maakt er ook kennis met hedendaagse wandtapijten, waaronder de eerste realisaties van 'Forces Murales' in de jaren 1940 met Deltour, Somville, Dubrunfaut... U ziet er realisaties van Tapta, Lambrecht en Didier, die nieuwe grafische concepten en het gebruik van nieuwe materialen illustreren. Het museum herbergt trouwens een opzoekingscentrum rond textielkunst.
