Deze ijskelder werd gebouwd in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw en was bestemd voor et bewaren van het ijs voor het kasteel van Hernanmont. Het ijs werd in de winterperiode uit de naburige vijvers gehaald.
Een cenraal blok en een inkomhal in lokale leisteen vormen de kern van het gebouw. De 'tank' in het centrale blok is van de buitenmuur gescheiden door een holle ruimte die een betere thermische isolatie bood.
Een torentje met schroeftrap en een lichttoren maken het geheel compleet.
Het dak is bedekt met leistenen.
