Het Fraueninsel, een van de drie eilanden midden in de Chiemsee, heeft maar één minpuntje, en dan nog. Het is voetgangersgebied. Auto of motor moeten dus noodgedwongen achterblijven op de parking aan de oever. Zit het slot erop, dan vaar je per boot (slechts tien minuutjes vanuit Gstadt) naar het vrouweneiland - zo genoemd omdat er een vrouwenklooster staat. Het Fraueninsel is de ideale plek om even de vermoeide benen te strekken, er met volle teugen te genieten van het zachte klimaat, het uitzicht op de Alpen.
