Het dorp Pfalzdorf, onderdeel van de gemeente Goch in de Duitse deelstaat NRW, werd in de 18e eeuw gesticht door een groep protestanten, die via Nederland naar Amerika wilden reizen. Minder dan 10 kilometer voor de grens werd hen de doortocht door lokalen geweigerd. Met strenge regionale bouwvoorschriften gaf de gemeente Goch hun in 1741 toestemming om zich op de hooggelegen heidegronden te vestigen. Het dorp is dunbebouwd en heeft lange rechte wegen. Het dorp had tussen 1880 en 1992 een halte aan de spoorlijn van Köln naar Kranenburg (nabij de grens bij Nijmegen).
