De Spaanse koninklijke familie maakt gebruik van dit paleis als zij een bezoek brengen aan Mallorca. Het is van oorsprong een Moors kasteel wat nog steeds zichtbaar is aan de invloeden van het gebouw. Dit is vooral goed terug te zien op de binnenplaats van het paleis.
Wanneer de koninklijke familie niet verblijft in dit paleis dan is het toegankelijk voor het publiek. Er zijn verschillende kunstwerken en tapijten te bewonderen in het paleis van Almudaina.
